We remember our Local 673 Union friends and co-workers with whom we have spent many days on the job with over the years. While their passing has been a loss to us and their families and friends, we will remember the good times we had together.

Dale A. Porter![]() | June 10, 1939 | November 19, 2025 | Dale Alexander Porter, 86, of Mentor, went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2025.Dale was born in 1939 in New Brighton, PA to John and Blanche Porter. He graduated from Willoughby Union High School where he met the love of his life, Adda, and they were married. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood, MO until being released from active duty to service in the Army National Guard of Ohio. Dale pursued a career as an electrician and was a proud union member of IBEW Local 673, serving as financial secretary for years.Dale was a lifelong tennis player whose passion for the sport kept him active and connected with his community. He was a dedicated member of Mentor United Methodist Church. His love of trains led him to volunteer countless hours at the Midwest Railway Preservation Society and the Painesville Railroad Museum, where he used his construction and electrical skills to help renew and restore the historic buildings.At just 19 years old, Dale purchased 69 acres in Utica, PA from his uncle, where he used his skills to build a cabin at what would become known as Porterdale. This was Dale’s happy place and he enjoyed sharing it with everyone. There were many retreats, family get togethers, campouts and fun times at his property.Dale and Adda made many memories together traveling the world and volunteering for those who are less fortunate. Dale will also be remembered for spending time sharing his knowledge and skills with the family.Dale was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Adda V. (Bogun) Porter. Dale’s memory will live on through his children, Heidi (Chris Moyer), Holly (Brian Morgan), and Matthew (Mary) Porter, and his grandchildren Zachary (Chelsea), Noah, and Chloe. His brother John Porter and his family will dearly miss him.Dale’s funeral will take place at 11 AM on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Avenue, Mentor, OH 44060, with a luncheon to follow. Gary A. Hogan![]() | May 10, 1957 | October 7, 2025 | Geneva, OH - Gary Hogan, passed away on Tuesday 10/07/2025 at age 68. Born 05/10/1957 in Ashtabula and raised in Geneva where he spent most of his life, Gary graduated from Genva High in 1975 where he participated in wrestling, track and football from 1972-1975. He was on NEC Championship team and track and football. In 1980, Gary began an apprenticeship in the IBEW and completed 04/1984. Gary worked locally and around the country until 2015, retiring as a member of Local 673. He was a member and past president of South Madison Motorcycle club for 10 years. Gary loved his brothers in the club and they journeyed together on many excursions. |

David G. Frye![]() | December 25, 1940 | September 21, 2025 | Ashtabula, OH - David Frye (Mr. "One-Der-Ful"), 84, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, at Meadow Falls of Saybrook. Born on December 25, 1940, in Elyria, Ohio, David was the son of the late Ann Riesterer and Edward Frye. In 1960, David married the love of his life, Mary Lou Frye. Together, they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and family. A lifelong boater, David found great happiness on the water and cherished sharing his love of boating, fishing, and camping with his family. A skilled and dedicated electrician, David took great pride in his craft and was a longtime member of IBEW Local 673. David served his country in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1961. He was an active member of several organizations, including the Riverside Yacht Club, the American Legion, and was a proud lifetime member of the VFW and the East Ashtabula Club. He was also a member of Mt. Carmel Church, where he found a strong sense of community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ann Riesterer and Edward Frye; stepmother, Marge Frye; stepfather, Albert Riesterer; and his brother, Edward Frye. |
Donald G. Zimmer![]() | July 18, 1934 | June 15, 2025 | Donald G. Zimmer, 90 passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, in New Mexico. He was born on July 18, 1934, in Kirtland, Ohio, to Bernard and Edna (Wamser) Zimmer. Don and his late wife, Sandra (Davies) Zimmer lived in Hambden Twp. for 61 years. He was a retired electrician and member of IBEW, Local 673 for 70 years. Don and Sandy traveled around the country including Alaska in their camper trailer. Don spent his last 2 years in New Mexico, his special place. He was with his son Steve and his wife Melissa, Don spent his time riding in the desert with his dog Bailey by his side. Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife, children; Keith Zimmer and Tamara (Zimmer) Wagner. He is survived by his sister Joan (Zimmer) Biller, children; Laura (Zimmer) Cochran, Steven (Melissa) Zimmer, and Thomas (Eve) Zimmer, 7 grand kids and 10 great grand kids. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. |
Gerald J. Krauter![]() | June 25, 1937 | November 22, 2024 | Gerald J. Krauter, age 87, of Madison, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Care Center in Cleveland, Ohio, on November 22, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work and generosity, "peppered" with humor! Jerry was born to Pauline and Joseph Krauter on June 25, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio. He grew up in Cleveland, but moved "to the country"-Madison, where he lived the remainder of his days. Jerry graduated from Madison High School in 1955, and subsequently entered the Navy, where he served as a Seabee, operating large equipment and spending time overseas. When he returned to Madison, he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Haase, in 1960. They remained married for 60 years, sharing the joy of raising a family and building a homestead, until Barbara passed away in 2020. Jerry enjoyed a lifelong career as a journeyman electrician. He was an active member of the local IBEW for over 55 years, during which time, his meticulous attention to the detail of his trade earned him great respect. In his retirement, he continued to be a dedicated member of his union by serving as an electrical inspector and organizing retiree events. Aside from his amusing character (always ready with the one-liners!), Jerry's life was defined by his reputation as a talented & generous craftsman. It seemed there was nothing he couldn't do, from training a horse to building a house! He was a constant source of generosity, always ready to help in any way he could. Jerry had several hobbies throughout his life-farming, gun club, motorcycling, fishing with his Dad and expert polka dancing with his wife-he thoroughly enjoyed them all! Jerry is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara, and sister, Sandra (Krauter) Skul. He is survived by his daughters Krista Hefner (John), Kelly McGarry (Daniel), Wendy Walk (Gregory), and his brother Joseph Krauter (Gwen). Jerry also leaves his legacy to 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, who have brought him unmeasurable love and joy in his later years. A memorial reception for friends and family will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024, 1-4 p.m. at Perry Community Center, 2800 Perry Park Road, Perry, OH. The family would be thankful for any donation made to Hospice of the Western Reserve as an expression of sympathy. |

Hutson, a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, beloved brother and uncle. David, born on March 22, 1963, in Cleveland, OH, to the late Al and Mary Jane Hutson, passed away on November 23, 2024. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 40 years, Tammy Hutson (nee Pedry), his children Shawn (Theresa) Hutson and Jessica Martin, and his grandchildren Kevin, AllieAnne, and Nathan. He also leaves behind his siblings Dennis (Laura) Hutson, Nadine (Roger) Popelka, Mark (Chris) Hutson and a host of nieces and nephews. David's passion for motorcycles, camping, bicycling, and radio control aircraft defined him, but above all, his family held the true key to his heart. Known for his dedication to teaching his grandchildren and always pursuing his next project, David's zest for life was evident in everything he did. He dedicated 42 years in the high voltage career field, retiring as a high voltage commissioning engineer. He was a proud member of IBEW Local 673, David's hard work and commitment were undisputed. He leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and dedication to his craft. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Monreal Srnick Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd, Eastlake, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:30 pm. David will be laid to rest at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a local animal shelter in David's honor. Born in Lake County on October 24, 1938, to Joseph J. Edelinsky and Elizabeth (nee: Janek). He graduated from Chardon High School in 1957 and shortly thereafter began his journey wireman apprenticeship with IBEW Local 673. After he retired from his trade, he began working part-time for Hambden Township and spent the next ten years working in the township park he loved. In March of this year, Richard and wife Joyce (nee: Andreano), celebrated 62 years of marriage. |
